Syrah Place
Order >>
Shadowbrook’s 2007 Syrah is the second
production from our syrah grapes located next
to the bocce court on the winery property. These
vines, although young, produce beautiful oval
shaped bunches of grapes that are hard to keep
from eating before harvesting for wine. This
vintage was able to hang on the vines until early
September enabling the grapes to fully mature.
As a result we were able to extract some dense
color and complex flavors that will prove Walnut
Creek soil has what it takes to produce world
class wine. You won’t believe this Syrah
is produced in the foothills of Mount Diablo.
Enjoy this wine while you can; we only produced
53 cases, so it won’t last long…..
Tasting
Notes: Shadowbrook’s 2007 Syrah
is inky purple and velvety smooth with a complexity
beyond it age. This fruit forward syrah has old
world classic varietal characteristics of black
fruit, white pepper and an earthy quality on
the nose. The full bodied palate boasts raspberry
and violet which mingle with savory lavender
spice. The finish has just enough acidity and
soft tannins to make the cardamom and spiced
creamed vanilla last well until you’re
ready for your next sip.
Winemaker
Comments: Fermentation takes place in stainless
steel tanks and the wine is aged in new 100%
French Oak barrels for 16 months.

Petite Syrah Place
Order >>
Petite Sirah is a varietal that takes on the flavor of the site it is grown “site
specific”. The terroir of the Mt. Diablo foothills expresses itself with
a dark, inky, rich, thick and intense fruit profile. Big ripe blackberry aromas,
giving way to a luscious mid palate that is fully concentrated. Raspberry, black
plum, coffee, dark chocolate and juicy berry flavors coat your tongue. Leather
and spice are integrated with a smooth finish of mouth coating tannins and a
touch of licorice. Aged in 100% French oak for 18 months for full tannin integration,
this is a Big wine…This Petite Sirah certainly has Mt Diablo’s signature
all over it! Enjoy….. .
Winemaker’s Comments: All of the fruit was
hand-harvested at the fruit’s optimum phenolic ripeness. This fruit actually
stained our sorting table as it was being de-stemmed. The Petite Sirah was manually “punched
down” during fermentation to ensure that we macerated the skins fully to
extract flavor and color. This is a great Petite Sirah; we think this Petite
Sirah will be a stalwart for our winery of some time.
